The Liverpool midfielder started the tie in Manaus, where goals from Neymar, Raphinha (two) and Gabriel Barbosa secured three points for the home side.

Fabinho was withdrawn midway through the second half while his Reds teammate Alisson Becker was an unused substitute.

Brazil top the qualifying table with 31 points from their 11 fixtures to date.
