Ovie Ejaria was on target for Rangers on Sunday as Steven Gerrard's side suffered last-minute frustration in a 3-3 draw with Motherwell.

The Liverpool legend’s team recovered from two deficits to take a lead into half-time – with the on-loan Ejaria providing the third goal.

The midfielder’s strike followed up a midweek performance in the Europa League tie against Ufa that earned glowing praise from Gerrard.

“I thought he was magnificent and I think that is his strongest 90 minutes that he has given us so far,” the Rangers boss said of Ejaria on Thursday.

“I think we have seen a lot of flashes and a lot of halves, some good performances, but I think that’s his first real excellent performance that he’s announced against a good team. I thought he was excellent from start to finish.”

It wasn’t to be for Ejaria and Gerrard on Sunday, however, as Motherwell levelled in the 90th minute at Fir Park to rescue a point. Ryan Kent was an unused substitute.

Elsewhere in Scotland at the weekend, goalkeeper Adam Bogdan played the full game as Hibernian were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Aberdeen.

Ben Woodburn was sent on for the final four minutes as Sheffield United claimed a 3-0 win at Bolton Wanderers in the Championship.

In Germany, Marko Grujic was a late substitute for Hertha BSC, entering the action with two minutes remaining of their 1-0 Bundesliga win over Nurnberg.

Taiwo Awoniyi came off the bench, too, midway through the second half in Gent’s 2-1 comeback victory against Lokeren in the Belgian top flight.

Herbie Kane was involved for the entirety of Doncaster Rovers’ goalless stalemate with Portsmouth while Shamal George was an unused substitute as Tranmere Rovers beat Port Vale 1-0.
