Ben Woodburn is set to resume full training this weekend after overcoming a minor calf strain picked up on international duty.

The 17-year-old sustained the injury while training with the Wales senior squad after being included in Chris Coleman's selection for a World Cup qualifying clash with Serbia last month.

Woodburn reported back to Melwood earlier than scheduled in order to expedite his recovery and has worked with the Reds' rehabilitation coaches since returning.

He is now expected to join his teammates in full training this weekend as preparations for next Wednesday's friendly meeting with Tranmere Rovers continue.

Woodburn made nine appearances in all competitions for the Reds last season, and became the club's youngest ever goalscorer when he netted in a League Cup victory over Leeds United at Anfield.
