Philippe Coutinho's stunning free-kick on the opening day of 2016-17 away at Arsenal has been voted by fans as Liverpool's Goal of the Month for August.

It is the second successive season that the No.10 has won the August accolade, after his magnificent effort against Stoke City in the first fixture of 2015-16.

His outrageous set-piece at Emirates Stadium got the Reds back on level terms after they had fallen a goal behind - and it was the overwhelming favourite in our poll, picking up 46 per cent of the total votes cast.

In second spot was Sadio Mane's sizzling individual strike at Arsenal, which picked up 36 per cent.

Claiming third place was Marko Grujic's wonderful late header at Wembley against Barcelona, with Mane's opener against the Catalan giants coming fourth.

Coutinho's second strike of the game in the 4-3 win over the Gunners completed the top five.
