First up, we asked our panel to select their Liverpool Player of the Season for the campaign just gone...

John Gibbons: Philippe Coutinho. Still much more to come from him and he was generally there in the biggest moments of the season, including a great winner on the very first day. His goal at Old Trafford was a golden moment from a magic player. Scored a forgotten goal in the League Cup final, too.

Gareth Roberts: Nathaniel Clyne has to be up there, he's been a solid 7/10 most weeks, but for sheer moments of magic, and a much improved goal return, I'll say Philippe Coutinho.

Noreen Khan: My vote goes to the Little Magician, Philippe Coutinho. I think Klopp's arrival in October really lifted his game and he seemed to show us more moments of brilliance. He was superb against Man City when we won 4-1, but the injury during the game did set him back a bit. Overall though, he's scored some really important goals for us so for me was our Player of the Season.

Dan Davies: Roberto Firmino. He has made himself an automatic pick in his first season in English football, scored 10 Premier League goals, and taken the some of the creative weight off Philippe Coutinho's shoulders. I would also give special mention to James Milner for his attitude, his effort and his consistency across the season. He's a player who never stops trying to make something happen, and who as captain has led by example.

Melissa Reddy: From the very first game of the campaign against Stoke, when Liverpool needed a sprinkling of inspiration, Philippe Coutinho provided the stardust. The Brazilian did not just score more sublime goals this season, they were important ones too: the decisive strike against Manchester United in the Europa League, the second in the astounding comeback against Borussia Dortmund, two in the Stamford Bridge dismantling of Chelsea and another in the blitz of Manchester City at the Etihad. He was also on the scoresheet in the derby drubbing of Everton and put on a magic show in the draw with Tottenham. He has been Liverpool's big-game player and deservedly cleaned up at the club's awards.

John Aldridge: Our Former Players' Association gave Lucas Leiva our Player of the Season award and he was as good as anyone last season. He even played at centre-half at Wembley in the Capital One Cup final against Manchester City.

James Pearce: I just think Philippe Coutinho provided some of the main highlights of the 2015-16 campaign. He had that injection of attacking quality, he is a match-winner in the squad and he has kicked on this season. I think there was more of an end product to his game.

Dominic King: Philippe Coutinho. He had a quiet start to the year and it was frustrating that some injuries took him out of the action for a spell but when he was good, he was brilliant. A number of performances stick in the mind, such as his double blast against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in October. The fact he swept the board at the club's awards tells its own story.

Chris Bascombe: I'd give it to Emre Can because he was consistent under Klopp. It was a shame he picked up the injury at the end of the season so wasn't at his best when it mattered in Basel.

Steve Hunter: A tough one this as Philippe Coutinho again had some truly unforgettable moments in a red shirt, but in terms of sheer consistency I am going to go for James Milner. He led the side brilliantly in the absence of Jordan Henderson, and also gets it for the cross of the season for Dejan Lovren's header against Borussia Dortmund.

David Fairclough: I'm going for James Milner for his all-round consistency in his performances. He was asked to play in a number of different positions in the team and always provided a bit of quality. He was one of our stand-out players, as he was in the Capital One Cup final when he ended up playing at left-back, and I also thought he was one of our better players in the Europa League final.

Roy Evans: It's got to be Philippe Coutinho. I think he beats James Milner just by a little bit for the creative side of things. He was often the inspiration for us.

Alan Kennedy: There were a few contenders but I'll give it to Lucas Leiva. I have been a big admirer of Lucas ever since he came to the club and every time he plays he is top-class. Whether he was playing in central midfield or at centre-back, Lucas had a great season. He is someone you can always rely on. Philippe Coutinho had his moments and Roberto Firmino also impressed me - he actually surprised me but he has certainly got an eye for a goal and good signs for the future.
