Ladies confirm stadium move
Liverpool Ladies will be playing their football at Halton Stadium in Widnes when the FA Women's Super League gets underway in March.
The stadium move continues a period of transition for the Reds which has seen notable changes to personnel since the summer.
Matt Beard was appointed as manager in August 2012 and his arrival was followed by additions to the squad in the form of Fara Williams and Natasha Dowie, who was signed locally from Everton.
New recruits also came from further afield, such as Whitney Engen and Katrín Ómarsdótti, who hail from the USA and Iceland respectively.
"I am so excited about this season," said Williams. "We have a really strong team and a new home to play in. With these factors combined I'm sure this will be a really exciting season for Liverpool Ladies and our fans."
The refreshed ladies squad will play all their games at Halton Stadium.
Easily accessible for fans, the new venue offers access from the M62 motorway and via public transport - just a short walk from Widnes train station.
The all-seater ground has a capacity of more than 13,000 and boasts an artificial astroturf pitch, as well as an electronic scoreboard.
"The team has had a complete facelift," explained the manager. "We now sit under the Liverpool FC umbrella and with their support we have worked to build a squad with talented players from home and abroad.
"We're very excited about kicking off the season at our new home, Halton Stadium and hope that fans will come and support us."
The stadium is also poised to host a selection of friendly matches kicking-off with Liverpool Ladies v Glasgow City on January 26, 2013.
