Liverpool saved the best till last in a 7-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield when Terry McDermott put the finishing touches on an iconic team goal.

With the Reds 6-0 up in the 1978 First Division fixture, David Johnson picked up the ball in midfield before finding Steve Heighway on the wing with a perfect crossfield ball.

Heighway's first-time cross into the box from the left was then converted by the head of McDermott to net a goal supporters in attendance 'will never forget', one newspaper stated.

"That must be the best goal Anfield has ever seen," manager Bob Paisley wondered afterwards.
