Missing Men: Tottenham Hotspur 1978
Terry McDermott scored what the great Bob Paisley described as "the best goal Anfield has ever seen" when Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur 7-0 in September 1978, but can you name the rest of a vintage Reds XI from that day?
Spurs arrived on Merseyside with World Cup winners Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa in their ranks, seeking a first win at the Reds' home since 1912. They left on the wrong end of a thrashing, having been completely outclassed from start to finish.
The game is often remembered for the McDermott header to which Paisley's famous quote refers, but it was Kenny Dalglish who set the Reds on the road to a thrilling victory, scoring the first two goals and having a hand in two more.
It took Dalglish just eight minutes to open the scoring against Spurs. The No.7 turned a low shot under goalkeeper Barry Daines to make it 1-0 and then deflected a wayward effort from a teammate inside the post for his second.
Liverpool's No.5 - who we won't reveal just yet - headed in the third on 28 minutes.
Substitute David Johnson then scored after Dalglish's saved shot rebounded to him and the same duo combined to make it 5-0 when Johnson slotted past Daines after latching onto a wonderful through ball from The King.
Liverpool's right-back that day made it 6-0 from the penalty spot ... and then came the goal from McDermott to cap a sweeping attack from the home side.
Dalglish, collecting the ball from the defence, passed to Johnson on the halfway line. The forward pinged it out to the left flank, where Steve Heighway crossed with his first touch for McDermott, who had raced forward from his own box to power home a header.
