LFC Foundation a hosted a summer holiday camp for local kids in Kirkby last week, supported by Red Neighbours.

Taking place at Kirkby Sports Centre, the event gave 50 children and young people - from Tiger Tots Children’s Centre and St Marie’s and Northwood primary schools - the chance to enjoy a variety of sports and activities as well as a healthy lunch.

Liverpool supporter, Dom Wong, recently made a generous £3,000 donation to the LFC Foundation in celebration of his 50th birthday, and the funds were used to deliver the free-of-charge summer camp.

Matt Parish, director of LFC Foundation, said: “Summer camps allow us to support local families during the school break, when families can find it hard to provide out-of-school care and it can be a financial strain to sustain hungry bellies.

“Camps like this also benefit the wider community by providing activities to keep children physically active and off the streets, aiming to reduce anti-social behaviour.

“The LFC Foundation and Red Neighbours are working together in the Northwood and Kirkby community to help tackle isolation, and the summer camps enable children from the local primary schools and community to come together to build their confidence while taking part in physical activity.”
