A group of LFC employees headed to North Liverpool Foodbank last week to assist volunteers, ahead of the new foodbank van launch at Anfield on Saturday.

Six members of staff spent Friday morning with St Andrews Community Network, helping with the preparation of food parcels and learning more about how North Liverpool Foodbank supports local residents in need.

As part of its dedication to tackle food poverty, LFC’s Red Neighbours programme has been an advocate of the Fans Supporting Foodbanks initiative – which donates to North Liverpool Foodbank - for the past two seasons, facilitating collections at all home games.

Fans Supporting Foodbanks’ brand-new collection van was unveiled outside Anfield ahead of the Cardiff City game, with LFC CEO, Peter Moore, and former Red, Jamie Carragher, among those making food donations.

Supporters attending matches at Anfield can drop-off any non-perishable food or toiletries at the van, located next to the family park on Anfield Road, or at the collection point inside the LFC Anfield superstore.

All food items collected are donated to the North Liverpool Foodbank, which is supported by The Trussell Trust, and made into three-day emergency food parcels for people in crisis in the L4, L5 and L6 areas.

Contributions from Fans Supporting Foodbanks make up over 20 per cent of North Liverpool Foodbank’s annual donations, and last season the Red Neighbours’ matchday collections equated to almost 2,000 meals for local families in North Liverpool.
