The LFC Foundation is celebrating double success after its boys and girls teams both triumphed at this year's Cruyff Court six-a-side tournament.

The players, from the charity's Premier League Kicks project, travelled to London on Saturday July 6 to compete in the final rounds of the competition, hosted by Tottenham Hotspur.

Both teams won all their fixtures, competing against other regional winners from Aberdeen, Arsenal, Everton, Hamilton and Tottenham.

The annual tournament is a national championship for youngsters aged 10 to 12 that takes place on Cruyff Courts across the UK.

Cruyff Courts are small, high-quality football pitches in the heart of communities and are a project of the foundation of Dutch legend Johan Cruyff.

LFC Foundation project lead, Tony Cosgrove, said: "This tournament has become one of the highlights of the year for our PL Kicks project.

"It allows us to bring together teams from across the city to compete in preliminary rounds with the regional winner being given the opportunity to pull on the famous red shirt and represent LFC at the prestigious event.

"Our players' performances and conduct on and off the pitch were exceptional, they certainly did us proud."

PL Kicks is a flagship community programme created by the Premier League to use football and sport to engage with hard-to-reach young people to help reduce anti-social behaviour and identify pathways for further development and employment opportunities.

The LFC Foundation delivers 18 Kicks sessions every week across Liverpool City Region, engaging with children and young people from eight to 19 years old.
