LFC Foundation hosts Premier League Primary Stars workshops
Hundreds of Anfield youngsters attended specialised Premier League Primary Stars (PLPS) community workshops run by the Liverpool FC Foundation this year.
As part of the PLPS programme, coaches from the club’s official charity delivered more than 40 individual workshops to local schoolchildren within the LFC Learning Space at Anfield.
The sessions included contributions from local services and initiatives - Merseyside Fire and Rescue, Young Addaction Liverpool, Merseyside Police, Kick It Out, Show Racism the Red Card and Pride Sport - as well as main club sponsor Standard Chartered.
Aiming to educate and inspire young pupils from in and around the Anfield area, the workshops addressed a wealth of important issues such as road safety, drug and alcohol awareness, money matters, weapons and gangs, racism, discrimination and homophobia.
David McParland, LFC Foundation project lead, said: “The PLPS programme uses the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs to encourage children to learn, be active and develop important life skills.
“Workshops like these are extremely beneficial to our participants as they gain a real insight into current issues within their own community, and are equipped in how to tackle them.”
