Youngsters from across the north west headed to Anfield Sports and Community Centre (ASCC) last week for a special tournament hosted by LFC Foundation's Premier League Kicks programme.

The Mini Kicks competition - a seven-a-side tournament for under 10s - saw LFC Foundation participants face teams from Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Everton, Oldham Athletic and Preston North End.

Following the success of PL Kicks' football development session, which runs at ASCC every Wednesday evening, the Mini Kicks tournament was created to give youngsters the experience of playing in a competitive fixture.

Tony Cosgrove, LFC Foundation project lead, said: “The Wednesday evening Kicks session has grown rapidly over the last 12 months and we have been able to provide many of our young people with pathways into both grassroots and semi-pro football.

“This was a fantastic opportunity for our young participants to pull on the club colours and proudly represent LFC while gaining tournament experience, which will ultimately help them progress within the game.

“It was a great occasion which provided much encouragement to all the young players taking part.”

The PL Kicks football development session takes place every Wednesday during school term time, from 5-7pm at ASCC. Boys and girls aged 7+ are welcome. For more information visit foundation.liverpoolfc.com.
