Liverpool will play in the EFL Trophy for the first time in 2019-20.

It has been confirmed that the Reds will enter an U21 team in the competition this season after accepting an invitation from the EFL.

The 64-club competition includes sides from the 48 clubs in League One and League Two, along with 16 Category One Academy teams.

The draw for the tournament’s group stage will take place in July, with the opening round of fixtures scheduled to be played in the week commencing September 2.
