Barry Lewtas knows Liverpool U19s will have to perform to their very best standards when they take on Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday.

With two games left to play in Group C, the young Reds are guaranteed at least a spot in the play-offs of the competition.

However, a point in France will see the U19s qualify automatically for the last 16.

Back in September, Lewtas' team produced an emphatic display to beat PSG 5-2 at home in their opening group game.

And now they are set to meet again in a 3pm GMT kick-off at the Stade Municipal Georges-Lefevre.

On knowing a point will guarantee a place in the last 16…

The boys have done ever so well so far. It's been a good campaign but it has been tough and a real good learning curve and experience for the lads and myself. The away trips have been a massive learning curve for me. It's an exciting game in prospect and a very glamorous tie. I thought we were excellent in the first game when we won 5-2. I thought we were good and it wasn't a case of PSG were very bad, we were very good out of possession and we will need to be on our game again on Wednesday afternoon.

On the blend of young and experienced players in his squad…

It is a nice mix. We have got a bit of stability and Neco Williams has also been in and out of both the U18 and U23 groups. The two centre-backs have helped us because they have been playing regularly together at U18 level in Rhys Williams and Tom Clayton. It is a real nice blend, I think we've got a good strong squad with that nice balance of attacking play. We have also been quite tough as well and done really well in tough moments of games. Red Star away was a really tough game and our goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros played his part, but it was nice to see us grind out certain moments.

On the fantastic facilities that await the Reds in Paris…

Their pitch looks great, which I think will suit us. Our performances in St Helens against PSG and Red Star were very good. I'm not making excuses but the surface at Napoli was tough and Red Star was tough as well. They will get the ball down and play, we will be the same, so playing on a good surface will be great.

On the quality of the goals scored so far in the Youth League from the likes of Adam Lewis and Rafael Camacho…

We've had countless chances to score and created an unbelievable amount of chances. In fact, we've created the most out of any team in this tournament. Chance creation has been good, which has been mixed by some good play. What is also good about this group is some of it has been created by some excellent individual play. We have players in our team we can give the ball to and then you don't quite know what's going to happen. They can shoot, they can play and they can combine, so we've got a nice blend.

On being wary of revenge after the 5-2 win over PSG in the last meeting…

Certainly. I could see that their staff were not happy after conceding that amount of goals. They are a good team and we played well. I think it's important sometimes to reflect; don't be too hard on the opposition when you get a scoreline like that, and say how well our lads played. We carried our plan out really well and we know we will need another good performance out there, so hopefully we will be able to perform well to our best.
