Liverpool have been linked with a move for Spain U21 full-back Junior Firpo.

The talented Real Betis star has been named as a potential replacement for the outgoing Alberto Moreno to provide competition and cover for Andy Robertson at Anfield.

But the Reds aren't the only side keen on the athletic left-back, with Real Madrid also heavily tipped to make a move.

Firpo has now responded to transfer speculation during the European U21 Championships in Italy.

The 22-year-old, who was born in the Dominican Republic, remained tight-lipped about speculation and insisted he is concentrating on his international commitments.

"Did Madrid call me? If you want to know, you can ask them," he said to El Larguero.

"I'm here with the national team and that's all I want to think about."

Firpo has a £45m release clause Liverpool are considering activating in order to land their man this summer.

But he previously hinted he would resist a move when asked earlier this month about links with La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona .

Asked if he has a preference between Real Madrid and Barcelona earlier this month, Firpo told Marca : "No.

"I have said that Real Madrid was more attractive to me because my father is from Madrid.

"This has nothing to do with where I would rather play.

"Honestly, the team that is most interesting to me right now is Real Betis, where I have been since I was young."
