Matthijs de Ligt has broken his silence on whether he will continue to play for Ajax next season.

The highly-rated 19-year-old, who partners Virgil van Dijk in defence for Holland, has been linked with a move to a number of clubs including Liverpool, Manchester United and Barcelona.

It remains unclear whether the talented defender will link up at Barca with team-mate Frankie de Jong, or be tempted into making a move to the Premier League.

Speaking on Sunday after sealing the league title with Ajax, the skipper was naturally quizzed on his future.

According to Metro, when asked whether he played his last home game for the Eredivisie side, De Ligt admitted: "I don’t know yet.

"There have been conversations, but there is still no agreement."

The youngster captained his boyhood club to the Champions League semi-finals, and were in pole position to meet Liverpool in the Madrid final before being agonisingly dumped out by Tottenham in the dying seconds of the tie.
