Liverpool have lodged a £17.5million bid for Croatian defender Domagoj Vida.

That is according to reports in Turkey, which say the Reds have joined the race for the Besiktas stopper.

Vida has impressed at the World Cup alongside current Reds star Dejan Lovren, helping Croatia to the final.

Liverpool have already reportedly had a £15.9million bid knocked back but have returned with an increased offer.

But Besiktas will apparently hold out for closer to £30million having only signed Vida from Dynamo Kiev in January.

However, the Turkish side are seemingly willing to move Vida on - should they receive a suitable offer.
