Alexandre Pato's agent has revealed Liverpool still have a chance of signing the striker.

Chelsea are closing in on an £8million deal for the Corinthians ace after agreeing terms on a three-year contract.

The Blues are in talks with the Brazilian club over the fee for the 26-year-old, who will need to secure a work permit before he can play in the Premier League.

Liverpool had reportedly been linked with an £11m switch for the former AC Milan forward earlier this month.

However, Jurgen Klopp shot down the rumours, advising the media not to "follow the Pato path any longer".

But Pato's agent Gilmar Veloz has today insisted that four teams, including the Reds, are still in the running for the striker.

“The January market is very limited,” Veloz told Brazilian news outlet UOL Esporte, before being asked which sides could sign the striker.

“Chelsea, Liverpool, Sporting [Lisbon] and Benfica. All four have a chance.”

Veloz also revealed that despite the best efforts of Kia Joorabchian and Giuliano Bertolucci, Pato’s other representatives, Corinthians have not yet received a formal bid for the 26-year-old.

“The guys are working on getting an offer, but nothing Corinthians are yet to receive one,” he added.
