Liverpool are monitoring Thomas Muller’s contract situation at Bayern Munich with a view to a potential move for the player, according to reports.

Manchester United have repeatedly bid for Muller, who is reportedly still in discussions with Bayern over a new contract.

And according to Bild – via SportWitness – Liverpool are monitoring the situation and are eyeing up the possibility of hijacking United’s interest in the player.

Bayern have publicly told United to stop bidding for the player so it seems unlikely that they’d welcome an approach from Liverpool despite their new German connection in the form of Jurgen Klopp.

Muller would also likely cost in the region of £75million, which is understood to be the value of the final bid United submitted for the player.
