Harvey Elliott has revealed his excitement for the new season and says he is ready to 'kick on' once again with Liverpool.

The Reds will conclude their Germany training camp on Monday with a friendly fixture against 2. Bundesliga outfit Greuther Furth as their 2023-24 preparations continue - subscribers can see the full 90 minutes of the contest with our live stream on LFCTV and LFCTV GO here.

Jürgen Klopp's squad will then travel to Singapore later this week for games with Leicester City and Bayern Munich, before starting the new Premier League campaign by travelling to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on August 13.

Elliott enjoyed a stellar summer at international level, lifting the U21 European Championship with England, which took his tally of appearances for both club and country in 2022-23 to 51.

"It's just about kicking on now," the No.19 told Liverpoolfc.com. "It's going to be another massive season for myself and for the team. Last season was a great opportunity, and I learned a lot. Although we didn't do too well as a team, for myself personally, it was great.

"I'm very confident going into the season and it's taking a lot from last and putting it to myself and then to my game to smooth out the mistakes that I made last year. I just feel confident and ready to go and I'm just so excited to get started."

On the mood among the players following his pre-season return…

You can see everyone was ready to go, which they have been every pre-season. But this one I think just feels that extra little bit special, extra little bit more intense and you can see it in the boys' faces they are ready and firing to go. It will be interesting to see how we do this season. Hopefully we can improve as a team, as people as well and make the most of it and hopefully achieve a lot of things.

On his relationship with fellow Euros winner and Reds teammate Curtis Jones...

It's amazing. Me and Curt, I feel like we have a close relationship on and off the pitch. We both want each other to do well. Whether that's him playing or me playing, we're always trying to cheer each other on and give each other confidence and push each other to the absolute max. Obviously coming off the Euros win, it's just about taking that into this season. As I said, keeping that friendship strong and keep pushing each other on to be the best and hopefully we can get a lot out of this season.

On setbacks making him and the group stronger...

Definitely. I think the whole team gets it as well. You know coming off the back of last season, you can see how everyone was disappointed, missing out on Champions League and this season we have the Europa League. We have just got to make sure we go out and apply ourselves the best that we can and hopefully go and win that. Obviously we've got the Premier League, as well as the cups and stuff like that.

For us, there's always competitions around, it's just about us making sure we go out and apply ourselves properly and making sure we haven't got another thought in our head other than winning this competition, or winning the league, for example. It's going to be tough. It's not going to be given to us. And I think the boys, the way they've been so far since me coming back, it has been unbelievable. Training has been great, intensity has been great and you can see everyone's firing and ready to go.

On the new midfield competition pushing each other on...

It's positive competition. We're all going to be there to try to take each other's places. But if one of us doesn't play and the other does, we're a team and we're here to support them as much as possible – I'm sure they will be with us as well. It's just about taking the chances when they come, making sure you apply yourself in training in the games and run your socks off, as everyone likes to say, which is what we need to do as a team. It's positive competition, which is great, and they're great lads from what I've met so far and obviously great players as well – there's no doubt about that. We're excited to see how they do this season. Hopefully I can do well.
