Mohamed Salah claimed a fifth-place finish in the 2022 Ballon d'Or.

The Egyptian was the highest-ranked Liverpool player in the voting for the prestigious individual award, which was won by Real Madrid's Karim Benzema for the first time.

Salah was recognised for a stellar 2021-22 campaign, during which he scored 31 goals as the Reds went on to win both the Carabao Cup and Emirates FA Cup, while finishing runners-up in the Premier League and Champions League.

In total, six members of Jürgen Klopp's current squad were nominated for the accolade that recognised a player's achievements in the 2021-22 season.

The voting from journalists also saw Fabinho take joint-14th place, with Virgil van Dijk finishing 16th.

Luis Diaz claimed joint-17th as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Darwin Nunez were 22nd and 25th respectively.
