Mo Salah reaction | Old Trafford dominance, scoring form and title target
Mohamed Salah struck a determined and focused tone after firing a hat-trick in Liverpool's scintillating 5-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday.
Highlights: Man Utd 0-5 Liverpool
The Reds were imperious in the Premier League showdown at Old Trafford and raced into a two-goal lead within 13 minutes courtesy of finishes from Naby Keita and Diogo Jota.
Salah then helped himself to a treble either side of half-time – the first by an away player at the stadium for more than 18 years – to take his tally for the season to 15 goals.
The No.11 was firmly looking forward as he assessed the win post-match, however, as he underlined the team’s determination to make a major challenge for the title.

On scoring for the 10th game in a row and it being the ‘stuff of dreams’ today…
It’s great to win 5-0 here away. We knew before the game it was going to be tough if we didn’t play our game, if we didn’t play our football. We managed do that from the beginning, which made the game a bit easier.
On what made the difference for Liverpool…
We knew they would come and try to give everything to win the game, so just in our head was [that] we had to give 100 per cent, we needed to dominate the game. And I think we did it.
On whether absolutely everything clicked for the team…
As a team, I think from the beginning we just tried to play our football, we just tried to get the ball in between the lines – and I think we did that. We tried to keep the ball as long as we could, create more chances. We were lucky do that in the first half and score from that.
On his current scoring run…
To be fair, as [long] as the team keep winning, I’m more than happy. I’m always trying to give assists – the first one I could have gone alone but I gave it to Naby. I’m trying always to give my best for the team to win, which is the most important thing.
On what the manner of the performance and size of the win give to Liverpool…
We won the Premier League two years ago, we know what it takes. It’s still one game. Of course, you win away against Man United it’s something really big, but still at the end of the day it’s three points. We need to focus on our games in the cup and then focus on the Premier League in the next game.
On the Reds starting to hit top form…
From the beginning of the season we tried to win each game. We just play for the title because a team like Liverpool, players like that, a manager like that, we need to play for everything, to play to win everything. It doesn’t matter if now the beginning [of the season] is over or not – in our head, from the beginning, from the pre-season, the manager talked to us [that] we need to win the Premier League, which hopefully we’ll go for that.
On whether the scale of the win shocked him…
After half-time we were talking in the dressing room that we need to write history, we just need to keep going and keep scoring goals, try to score as many as you could. A chance like that will not come often. So we just tried to do our best to win the game like that. We knew before the game it was going to be tough if we wanted to win the game, which is what we did.
