Jordan Henderson was named runner-up for BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2020.

The Liverpool captain finished second to seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton after a public vote, with jockey Hollie Doyle in third place.

Henderson was included on the six-person shortlist following a year that saw him become the first Liverpool captain to lift the Premier League title, ending the club's 30-year wait for the top-flight crown.

Away from the pitch, the England international has received widespread praise for his support and contribution to community causes, including vital donations to foodbanks on Merseyside.

He also played a central role in the creation of the #PlayersTogether initiative, which sees Premier League footballers raise funds for NHS Charities Together in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards show on Sunday evening, Henderson accepted the Team of the Year prize on behalf of the Premier League champions.
