Mohamed Salah's Egypt kicked off the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations with a 1-0 win over Zimbabwe on Friday night.

The Liverpool forward played the entirety of the tournament opener that was settled by Mahmoud Hassan's 41st-minute strike.

Salah was close to making it 2-0 for the host nation, but was denied by a fine save from Elvis Chipezeze towards the end of the affair in Cairo.

The Pharaohs are next in action on Wednesday evening when they play DR Congo.
