Mohamed Salah collected yet another individual accolade on Friday but the Liverpool forward is driven by the desire to lift silverware with his club this season.

The No.11 was named the 2018 BBC African Footballer of the Year, retaining an honour he was also awarded 12 months ago, in recognition of his outstanding form.

Salah has struck 13 goals so far this term, with his latest perhaps the most crucial – Tuesday’s winner against Napoli sent the Reds into the Champions League last 16.

Previously, it was the Egyptian’s hat-trick at Bournemouth that catapulted Jürgen Klopp’s side to the summit of the Premier League table.

And while Salah was delighted to receive the BBC award ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Manchester United, his main focus is collective glory.

“It’s a great feeling. I would also like to win it next year! It’s great feeling to win the award two years in a row. I’m happy to win it,” he said.

“I want to win something with the club. Everyone is excited. I try to push myself every day to help the team win something. This season, everyone wants to win something. We will carry on.”
