Mohamed Salah will break a Liverpool record that has stood for 120 years if he nets twice in Sunday's Merseyside derby.

If selected at Anfield, the Egyptian will make his 50th Premier League appearance for the Reds.

His previous 49 top-flight games have seen him score 39 times - meaning a goal versus Everton would see him equal the club record of 40 goals in a player's first 50 league matches, set by George Allan in 1898, while a brace would take him above Allan.

Salah played against Everton once last season, scoring a brilliant individual effort that later won the FIFA Puskas Award in a 1-1 draw at Anfield.

This will be the 100th league clash between Liverpool and Everton at Anfield. It is the most played derby in English league football, with 199 divisional clashes.

In all competitions, this will be Merseyside derby number 232. The Reds have won 92, drawn 73 and lost 66.

Liverpool have lost just three of the last 37 meetings in the Premier League home and away - all at Goodison Park - and are unbeaten in the last 15.

The 15-game run without defeat constitutes a record between the sides.

At Anfield, Liverpool are unbeaten in the last 18 top-flight meetings - both winning and drawing nine.

Jürgen Klopp is unbeaten in six league and cup meetings with Everton, winning four and drawing two.

Liverpool's next goal will be the 350th scored under Klopp in all competitions.

Virgil van Dijk made his Liverpool debut against the Toffees in the FA Cup last season. He scored an 84th-minute winner in a 2-1 triumph.

Steven Gerrard is the last player to score a hat-trick in the derby, doing so at Anfield in March 2012, on his 400th league appearance.

On the last two occasions the Reds have played on December 2, they scored five at Brighton and Hove Albion in the league (2017) and six at Southampton in a League Cup tie in 2015.
