Liverpool can resurrect their Champions League ambitions with a big night at Anfield next month, insists Andy Robertson.

The 2-1 defeat at Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night left the Reds with a clear set of permutations: beat Group C leaders Napoli 1-0 or by two clear goals on December 11 to be guaranteed a place in the last 16.

“We know how hard it is going to be against Napoli but we believe,” Robertson told Liverpoolfc.com at the Parc des Princes.

“We believe at Anfield that we can create special nights and we will need our fans and need everyone behind us, and if we can create a special atmosphere then I’m sure the players will react and hopefully we can get the result we deserve.

“We never do it the easy way. The last campaign we were stronger through the group stage but we had to win in the last game and managed it, so it’s the same this time.”

Jürgen Klopp’s side fell two goals behind in the first half at PSG as Juan Bernat and then Neymar pounced on opportunities for the Ligue 1 outfit.

James Milner converted a penalty in first-half stoppage-time to lift the visitors, who were much improved after the interval but unable to produce the incisive moment they needed to level.

“Decision-making is the word for tonight, of course, because we couldn’t find it,” said Robertson.

“There were two in the second half. I got into a good position and I just didn’t quite find the right ball, and there were a few other situations where we just couldn’t find the final ball.

“We shouldn’t have really let them go two goals in front in the first half. We obviously got back into it with the penalty but we weren’t quite there.

“Second half, I thought it was all us and obviously we had to attack at the end and then they had a few counter-attacks. It was a very frustrating night, there was some stuff we couldn’t control and other stuff we could control, but it was a very disappointing night.”

Liverpool must now rally immediately for the visit of neighbours Everton this weekend in the Premier League.

“That’s the beauty of our league,” added Robertson. “Watford was a tough game on Saturday and now we look forward to the Merseyside derby on Sunday.

“It’s another massive game and we can bounce back straight away. We’ll be looking to do that, we know how big the game is and hopefully we can step up to the occasion.”
