Georginio Wijnaldum was on target for the Netherlands, meanwhile, scoring the opening goal of their 2-0 win at home to France in the UEFA Nations League.

The midfielder struck a minute before the break at De Kuip, where he played 89 minutes and his Reds teammate and Dutch captain Virgil van Dijk the whole game. Memphis Depay added a second from the penalty spot in stoppage-time.

Alisson Becker and Roberto Firmino featured for 90 minutes as Brazil beat Uruguay 1-0 – Neymar the goalscorer – in a friendly held at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium; Fabinho was an unused substitute for Tite’s side.

There was frustration for goalkeeper Kamil Grabara as Poland U21s lost 1-0 to Portugal in the first leg of their European Championship qualifying play-off. They meet again on Tuesday.
