Goals from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino extended Liverpool's 100 per cent winning start to the season to four games at Leicester City on Saturday.

Mane’s 10th-minute strike and a Firmino header on the stroke of half-time put the Premier League leaders in control at the King Power Stadium.

Rachid Ghezzal reduced the arrears midway through a second period the Foxes enjoyed the better of, but Jürgen Klopp’s team were resolute and battled their way to another victory.

Here are five talking points from the King Power Stadium…

Premier League-era history

Before Saturday, when was the last time Liverpool won their first four league matches of a campaign?

Top marks if you said 1990-91.

Mane and Firmino’s first-half strikes earned a piece of Premier League-era history for the Reds, whose previous best points tally after four PL games was 10 - a mark last achieved in 2013-14.

Four in four

Four games, four goals.

That’s not a bad return from Mane at the start of the season, is it?

The No.10 gave Liverpool an early lead at the King Power, by pouncing and finishing unerringly after Andy Robertson’s cross had ricocheted off Harry Maguire.

That clinical finish lifted Mane to the top of the Premier League scoring charts, too.

Bobby gets off the mark

While displaying all of his customary industry in the opening three matches of the campaign, Firmino travelled to Leicester without a goal to his name in 2018-19.

That changed in the 45th minute, however, when he directed a powerful downwards header beyond Kasper Schmeichel from James Milner’s out-swinging corner to put the visitors 2-0 up.

The Brazilian’s first strike of 2018-19 proved decisive, too, with Ghezzal subsequently pulling one back for the Foxes midway through the second half.

That's now 60 Premier League goals (37 goals and 23 assists) Firmino has been involved in since Klopp arrived at Anfield in October 2015 - 15 more than any other Liverpool player.

Milner hits his century and equals Beckham

Making his 100th top-flight appearance for Liverpool, Milner marked the occasion with his 80th assist in the Premier League.

That puts the No.7 level with David Beckham, with only six players - including Steven Gerrard - having set up more goals in the division's history.

Goal-saving Gomez

The Reds were forced to absorb plenty of pressure from Leicester in the second half and, were it not for Joe Gomez, they would surely have conceded before Ghezzal's goal.

James Maddison wriggled away from Virgil van Dijk in the area and looked certain to slot past Alisson Becker - only for Gomez, who was again impressive at the heart of the defence, to produce a magnificent, last-ditch block to deny the Foxes playmaker.
