Melwood played host to a four-team tournament during the second session on Tuesday night – with an interesting forfeit for the side who finished last…

After completing a morning workout, a draw was made in the main coaching office upstairs at the complex to determine how the teams would line-up in the afternoon’s competition.

Jürgen Klopp, Peter Krawietz, Pepijn Lijnders and John Achterberg oversaw the draw, with Jordan Henderson, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold acting as official adjudicators.

The resulting line-ups were as follows…

Team A: Mignolet, Robertson, Van Dijk, Keita, Jones, Sturridge and first-team fitness coach Conall Murtagh.

Team B: Grabara, Matip, Alexander-Arnold, Milner, Origi, Shaqiri, Camacho.

Team C: Kelleher, Phillips, Moreno, Henderson, Lallana, Salah, Mane.

Team D: Alisson, Gomez, Clyne, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Solanke, Firmino.

When the action got under way, each team played each other twice in five-minute matches.

After an entertaining and competitive tournament, it was team D who prevailed at the end of it, as our photo above shows.

However, Team A were the ones left facing the forfeit as they ended the competition in fourth place.

Amidst the good-natured spirit of the session, there were key coaching principles being carried out during the course of the workout, and provided a competitive edge with something to play for.

So, what was the forfeit for the six players and one member of coaching staff? Stay tuned to Liverpoolfc.com and our social media feeds on Wednesday to find out…
