Liverpool's valiant Champions League run ended at the final hurdle in Kiev as Real Madrid claimed a 3-1 victory.
Karim Benzema pounced to put the holders in front but Sadio Mane quickly restored parity with a close-range finish from Dejan Lovren's towering header.
Substitute Gareth Bale settled the match, however. The Welshman netted an outrageous overhead kick before Loris Karius failed to stop his long-range blast.
