Our week-long story of Liverpool's five triumphs in the European Cup so far continues with a journey back to the 1981 meeting with Saturday's opponents Real Madrid.

The Reds became Kings of Europe for a third time in Paris and Bob Paisley celebrated a hat-trick of trophies in the space of five years.

A somewhat cagey game was decided nine minutes from time at the Parc des Princes when Alan Kennedy ran through and fired beyond the reach of Real stopper Agustin.

And it was a proud moment for Phil Thompson as he lifted the European Cup as Liverpool captain.
