In pictures: The venue for the 2018 Champions League final

The 70,050-capacity venue, known for much of its 95-year history as the Republican Stadium, underwent its latest revamp for Euro 2012, when it hosted several matches, including Spain's 4-0 win over Italy in the final.

Dynamo Kiev - the country's most successful club with 14 Ukraine Premier League wins and 13 league titles from the old Soviet competition - made the national stadium their permanent home shortly after the European Championship.

Before then, they only played European games at the ground, including a 2001-02 Champions League group-stage clash with Liverpool when goals from Danny Murphy and Steven Gerrard secured a 2-1 victory.

None of the current LFC squad featured in that match, but a few of Jürgen Klopp's players have graced the turf at the Olimpiyskiy Stadium with other teams.

Dejan Lovren played for Croatia in a 2-0 World Cup qualifying win against Ukraine in 2017, while Mohamed Salah featured in Fiorentina's 1-1 Europa League quarter-final draw with Dynamo in 2015.

England pair Jordan Henderson and James Milner played at the ground during Euro 2012, with the latter returning in 2013 for a 0-0 World Cup qualifying draw with Ukraine.
