Liverpool bring the curtain down on the Premier League season with a home clash against Brighton and Hove Albion that will determine if they finish in the top four.

A draw for Jürgen Klopp's men would mean fifth-placed Chelsea need to beat Newcastle United and hope for a miraculous +16 swing in goal difference to leapfrog the Reds and claim a Champions League place.

Liverpool have good record against the Seagulls historically, but the two sides have not met in the league at Anfield since 1982, when LFC ran out 3-1 winners.

Here's how the Reds have fared against Brighton in slightly more recent times:

1. Firmino on fire for five-star Reds

Liverpool's first top-flight clash with Brighton for 36 years ended with Reds recording their biggest ever league win at the home of the south coast club.

Roberto Firmino scored twice in a 5-1 victory at the AMEX Stadium to take his career tally in the Premier League to 26 goals.

At the time, no other Liverpool player had scored more since the Brazilian made his debut in the English top flight in August 2015.

The rout of Chris Hughton's newly promoted side also meant Klopp's Reds had scored 15 goals in their past four away games in all competitions.

2. Rampant Reds hit six

Liverpool appeared to benefit from a hat-trick of own goals as they booked a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals. Brighton's Liam Bridcutt notched two of them, but the defensive midfielder's second was later awarded to Steven Gerrard.

Lewis Dunk scored the other and the Seagulls centre-back is one of just two players who featured in this last meeting at Anfield who could also play in Sunday's Premier League meeting on Merseyside - the other being Jordan Henderson.

Martin Skrtel, Andy Carroll, Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez were also on target as Dalglish's side secured a comprehensive victory ahead of a trip to Wembley for the League Cup final against Cardiff City.

3. Bellamy inspires Reds at the Amex

Craig Bellamy was the star of the show on his second full debut for Liverpool as the Reds became the first visiting team to triumph at Brighton's recently opened Amex Stadium.

Bellamy, who was brought back to Anfield for his second spell by Dalglish, scored the opening goal, played a major role in the second, and hit the crossbar with a long-range free-kick.

Dirk Kuyt put Liverpool two goals up against the Championship side and pulled out the 'Rocking the Baby' celebration - made famous by Brazil's Bebeto at the 1994 World Cup - following the birth of his son.

4. McMahon and Rush save the day

Having been taken to extra-time in this FA Cup fourth-round replay, Liverpool were just 15 minutes away from going out of the competition before Ian Rush latched onto Peter Beardsley's pass to level the scores at 2-2.

Rushie then turned provider with six minutes remaining to set up Steve McMahon to claim victory with his second goal of the game.

Liverpool had avoided being knocked out of the FA Cup by Brighton for the third time in eight years.

5. Rush strikes twice as Reds rocked by Brighton

Dalglish's side went in to this match as heavy favourites and, when Rush put Liverpool 2-0 up, the match appeared to be over.

However, Mike Small and John Byrne struck within two minutes of each other to level the scores and maintain Brighton's impressive record against Liverpool in the FA Cup, having knocked the Reds out in 1983 and 1984.
