Liverpool advanced to the Champions League final with a 7-6 aggregate victory over AS Roma on Wednesday night.

The Reds led twice in their semi-final second leg at Stadio Olimpico through Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum, but lost 4-2 on the night.

However, their 5-2 win in last week’s first leg proved decisive and it’s Jürgen Klopp’s team who will face Real Madrid in the final in Kiev on May 26.

Mane put the visitors ahead early on with a clinical left-footed finish, only for a slice of misfortune to see Roma equalise quickly when Dejan Lovren’s attempted clearance cannoned back off James Milner and into Loris Karius’ net.

Wijnaldum’s 26th-minute header put the visitors back in charge at the Olimpico, though, and Liverpool saw out the remainder of the first half in comfort.

Edin Dzeko scored seven minutes into the second period to give Roma a glimmer of hope, before Radja Nainggolan scored twice late on.

But the Reds saw out the game to reach their first Champions League final since 2007.
