Jürgen Klopp has offered an insight into the factors that influence his team selections during a busy Premier League fixture schedule.

The German made six changes for his side's last outing - a 3-0 victory over Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium on Wednesday - and has more big decisions to make on Saturday when Liverpool travel to Brighton.

Speaking at a press conference to preview that game, Klopp explained how the advice of his medical staff plays a big part in how his team line up.

He said: "We discuss with the medical staff but I don't discuss too much with them because they give me information and I have to accept it, so there is nothing to discuss.

"I need to know who is in the mix, who I can think about in the moment and then I can make the line-up.

"In the sessions we have at the moment there are not too many but every player has to show me every day how much he wants to be involved.

"That's what the players are doing and when they do that then it depends on the opponent, it depends on the moment, it depends on the last game, it depends on the next game - a lot of things have influence on my decision.

"But the best thing is you have 24 players to think about, unfortunately that is really not often the case.

"So far, [rotating] worked OK. As I said after the [Stoke] game, we can make decisions [like this] in football, the only thing is my team needs to win.

"If we don’t win then it was absolutely the wrong decision and if we win then people think, 'not too bad'! We always know after the game and not earlier."
