To celebrate Sir Kenny Dalglish's 70th birthday, we have taken a look back through the numbers behind his incredible contributions to Liverpool FC.

During a hugely successful stint as a player and two spells as manager, the Scot helped secure eight league titles, three European Cups, two FA Cups and five League Cups.

Little wonder he became known, and revered, as The King.

440,000 – pounds paid by Liverpool to secure his signature from Glasgow Celtic in August 1977

515 – appearances in his Reds career, making him one of only 13 players to have played more than 500 games for the club

172 – goals scored for Liverpool in league and cup. He is seventh on the club’s all-time list

153 – Kenny played in 153 cup ties for the Reds, with the most in any competition his 59 appearances in the League Cup

147 – Dalglish has worn the iconic No.7 shirt for the club in more consecutive league games than any other Liverpool player

139 – he scored 139 goals under Bob Paisley, the most by any Reds player in that spell (from 1977 to 1983)

104 – Kenny is one of only seven players to have scored more than 100 goals for the club at Anfield, his total reaching 104

55 – the number of different clubs he found the net against during his Liverpool career

31 – the most goals Dalglish scored in all competitions in a single season (1977-78)

28 – appearances against Arsenal was the most he made against any single club as a Reds player

11 – he scored 11 times against Manchester City, more than he did against any other club

7 – it took Kenny just seven minutes to open his account on his league debut, in the 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough in August 1977

5 – the number of seasons Dalglish was a league ever-present as a player, including in each of his first three campaigns
