Two young Reds were given the surprise of a lifetime when they arrived home from school to find Rhian Brewster ready to reveal their LFC bedroom makeover.

Unsuspecting fan Harvey, a year six pupil at Whitefield Primary school, had been nominated by his school to receive the special gift after going through a tough time recently.

Changing circumstances at home were having an impact on his performance at school, but the determination of Harvey’s mum Malesha to create a settled environment for him and his brother Reuben means Harvey has been making incredible progress at school, now with excellent attendance.

Believing that their school had written to LFC to treat them to a day out for doing well with their school work, Harvey and Reuben enjoyed a tour of Anfield followed by an all-expenses-paid shopping trip to the Anfield club store, lunch at the Boot Room Cafe and an overnight stay at a hotel before school the next morning.

With the boys out of the house, the makeover could begin with a dedicated DIY team from LFC, alongside the club’s new official licensee, MurWalls, volunteering their time to don the overalls and give the bedroom a complete revamp in just two days.

Getting stuck in, the team cleaned and removed the existing flooring and furniture from the bedroom to get it ready for the big renovation. A new official LFC carpet was fitted courtesy of Football Carpets, along with brand new bunk beds, new bedroom furniture to give the boys a place to study, and a whole host of LFC merchandise and toys to complete the transformation, ready for their return from school.

The biggest feature of the makeover centred around the bespoke mural that was designed and painted onto the wall of the bedroom, courtesy of MurWalls, a company which creates bespoke, branded graffiti artwork for walls in homes and offices.

Over the course of 48 hours, three graffiti artists, Mr Meana, Danny Bench and Title, recreated Liverpool FC’s famous changing rooms on the boys’ wall, complete with hooks to hang their new signed LFC home jerseys. Capturing the Anfield atmosphere, the artist also finished off the look by expertly crafting portraits of Mohamed Salah and Brewster. The boys’ names were also tagged on the wall in graffiti-style writing.

After what seemed like a normal day at school for the brothers, they arrived home to find a special guest waiting for them to unveil the big surprise.

Stunned at seeing their brand new LFC-themed room for the very first time, Harvey and Reuben believed they were meeting the artist who had been the mastermind behind the makeover.

Removing his painter’s mask to reveal his true identity, the brothers got another surprise when they realised they were actually meeting Brewster, who came with gifts for the whole family, including some presents for mum Malesha donated by Urban Calm and The Doubletree by Hilton for her to treat herself.

She said: “Harvey and Reuben are very close and do everything together – Harvey’s just recently taught Reuben how to play football so he’s really into that now. They share the same room and won’t be without each other so this surprise will be fantastic for the both of them, they’re inseparable and are the best of friends.

“They absolutely love their school work and reading and are doing so well now. The boys are so loving and have so much respect for everybody – I love them to bits and am very proud of them, they’re my pride and joy.”

Marc Silver, CEO and founder of MurWalls, added: “Your bedroom is your cave and where you go to have some space and relax. These two boys share a room together, and so we wanted to make them feel really special. They’re big Liverpool fans so we wanted to give them their dream bedroom.

“We understood that they are big fans of Mo Salah and also have a special place in their hearts for Rhian Brewster, so this was part of the focus of the project.

“We were waiting outside the house, sort of like a stake-out, waiting for mum and the boys to leave so we could get the makeover under way. As soon as they left to go and enjoy their day out around Anfield, we got stuck in. We had three different graffiti artists who came in to completely transform the room and worked through most of the night to get it ready for when the boys came home the next day to give them the surprise of their life.”
