Red Neighbours' chair-based yoga sessions took a new arty direction recently with participants taking part in a painting class via Zoom.

Instead of the session's usual routine of stretching, balance and meditation, participants picked up their paintbrushes and set to work on creating a beautiful canvas painting.

All 28 participants received an acrylic paint set and canvas delivered to their doors to ensure everyone had all the materials they needed to take part.

Longstanding chair-based yoga participant Ann Coffey led the session, using her background as an ex-headteacher with a speciality in art.

Ann, who is retired, also runs the Sunshine Group, which is run by a small group of volunteers and supports women who are going through breast cancer. It provides support from diagnosis, before, during and after treatment.

Christine Mounsey, Red Neighbours' senior co-ordinator, said: "This virtual art session was fantastic and a welcomed addition to our usual routine. It is always great to see our participants engaging in new activities and some truly fantastic paintings were created.

"I'd like to extend our thanks to Ann, who took the time out to share her knowledge and expertise with the group, which was enjoyed by all."
