Pupils from six local schools headed to Anfield on Monday for an afternoon of festive bingo – hosted by some very special guests.

Liverpool stars Fabinho, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Daniel Sturridge turned bingo callers for the day, as Red Neighbours welcomed 25 local youngsters to the Christmas event.

Children from Alsop High School and New Park, Faith, Florence Melly, Anfield Road and Pinehurst primary schools were invited to the stadium as part of Red Neighbours’ focus on creating memorable experiences for young people.

The afternoon involved a series of Christmas-themed bingo games – using images of festive items in place of the traditional numbers – and ended, as the scores were tied, with a dance-off to decide the winning school.

“We’ve had a great afternoon – it’s always brilliant to get out and meet the local kids and give something back to the community,” said Sturridge.

“This has been a great way to kick off the festive period and we hope the pupils had as much fun as we did.”
