Simon Mignolet and Alex Manninger paid a special visit to Croxteth Community Primary School to participate in the Liverpool FC Foundation's Premier League Primary Stars programme.

As part of the new scheme launched by the Premier League, the club’s official charity aims to provide a world-class sporting and educational programme which uses the appeal of football and sport to improve and enhance physical education and other curriculum areas such as literacy, numeracy and PHSE.

It also aims to develop skills and ambition both on and off the sports field, and foster values and skills that are crucial to success in later life.

The Foundation delivers national curriculum PE lessons to different year groups throughout the school to help keep pupils fit and healthy and also support a well-rounded education.

Goalkeepers Mignolet and Manninger took part in the lesson with activities and games focusing on throwing, catching, balance and co-ordination.

Belgium international Mignolet said: “It’s brilliant for myself and Alex to be able to come along to schools and meet all of those involved with the programme. It is a real privilege to be able to work alongside the LFC Foundation at sessions like this. We were able to share some tips and advice, whilst enjoying spending time with the children.

“The class really enjoyed the coaching session, which shows what a great job the Foundation does in providing structured sport and educational programmes in local schools.”

Andrea Cooper, head of the LFC Foundation, added: “It is brilliant to see players like Simon and Alex visit Croxteth Community Primary School to show their support to the LFC Foundation and the Premier League Primary Stars programme.

“The Liverpool FC Foundation Schools Programme offers highly qualified and experienced coaches who work alongside school staff to deliver national curriculum lessons and sport-specific extra-curricular clubs in both mainstream and specialist educational settings.”
