Peter Moore has hailed the collective efforts of Liverpool supporters and club staff ahead of the Champions League final with Real Madrid in Kiev on Saturday.

Reds fans have encountered great difficulties finding travel and accommodation for the game, with the limited availability of both. In addition, the club were issued an allocation of 16,626 tickets for the final, which has meant the demand for tickets from Liverpool supporters has not been matched by the supply.

Moore insists Liverpool are hugely appreciative of the efforts that are being made by those who will travel to Kiev, as well as being wholly understanding of the disappointment felt by those who, for whatever reason, are unable to make the trip.

Liverpool’s chief executive said: “As a club, we thank each and every supporter who will be going to Kiev for the huge sacrifices they will make in order to get there and give their backing to the team – as they always do, regardless of wherever we play in the world.

“We are acutely aware of the issues that our supporters have faced in terms of obtaining tickets, arranging travel, and organising accommodation for the final.

“It is for that reason that we have worked exhaustively to try to alleviate some of these difficulties, whether that be by collaborating with partners, liaising with the relevant authorities in Kiev or by asking our own staff to go the extra mile – something that they have done willingly and without hesitation.

“Some of the issues are, unfortunately, beyond our control. Logistically, the challenges of this event are there for all to see and whichever clubs reached the final would have faced the same problems. As it is, we are doing our level best in exacting circumstances to make the best of the situation on behalf of supporters.

“Nevertheless, we will always strive to do better for our supporters and will always listen to their concerns. If there is one thing that this Champions League campaign has underlined it is that anything is possible when there is unity between players, club and fans and that remains a fundamental objective for everyone at Liverpool FC.”

Moore also discussed the role of official club partner, Thomas Cook Sport, in getting supporters to Kiev.

“In their capacity as the club’s travel partner, Thomas Cook Sport has been working hard in the background to secure as many flights as possible to Kiev, at our request,” he said. “We’re really grateful that they were able to secure a fourth aircraft at such an incredibly busy time, and offering it at cost price to our supporters.”

Moore also explained how the club are working tirelessly to prevent match tickets being sold at inflated prices by unofficial sources and are investigating those responsible with a view to taking action.

"The entire 16,626 allocation that Liverpool received from UEFA for the final has now been sold and the club is aware of instances of tickets being sold at extortionate prices, with a number of cases currently being investigated,” he said.

"It remains a matter of deep frustration to Liverpool FC that genuine supporters are denied access to tickets because of unauthorised sales activity.

“We would remind supporters that under no circumstances should tickets for the Champions League final be purchased from unofficial sources.

"Every effort is being made to prevent tickets being sold in this way and the club will take action against those identified as being responsible.

"Should any supporter be offered tickets from unofficial sources or become aware of forgeries on the market they are urged to contact the ticket investigations team."

For those travelling to Kiev, Liverpool are aiming to make the designated fan area in Shevchenko Park as entertaining as possible, with a number of carefully chosen entertainment acts due to perform on stage.

“For those who are fortunate to be going to Kiev, we want to make the LFC fan stage near the stadium the best ever for our supporters,” said Moore.

“Everyone who was there remembers – and still talks about – the fan area outside the Ataturk in Istanbul back in 2005, but we’re hoping to better that if we can.

“We will look to have quality entertainment geared around what you want and expect as a LFC fan on this journey.

“Finally, for my part, I hope that the supporters feel that their commitment is being rewarded by a team that is now within one game of fulfilling all of our dreams.”
