Liverpool and Everton shared the points as a lively Merseyside derby ended in a 2-2 draw in Saturday’s Premier League contest at Goodison Park.

Sadio Mane crashed the Reds into a third-minute lead at the home of the Blues, finishing powerfully from close range from Andy Robertson’s centre.

Virgil van Dijk limped off soon after with an injury following a collision with Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane equalised for the home team when he headed in from a corner.

Richarlison hit the post for Everton in the second half, but Liverpool regained the lead on 72 minutes when Mohamed Salah finished smartly from Yerry Mina’s wayward clearance for his 100th goal for the club.

However, Dominic Calvert-Lewin levelled for the Blues with a firm header before Richarlison was sent off for a lunge at Thiago Alcantara.

In a dramatic finale, Jordan Henderson had a goal ruled out by VAR, which judged Mane to have been offside in the build-up as the spoils were divided at Goodison for a fourth successive season.
