Karius set to miss United clash

Jürgen Klopp has confirmed to Liverpoolfc.com Loris Karius is likely to miss the ICC encounter with Manchester United on Saturday due to a minor knee injury.

The boss adds that the news does, however, present a "big opportunity" to Academy goalkeepers Kamil Grabara and Caoimhin Kelleher, whom are both set to figure.

A debut at the Big House?

Jürgen Klopp confirmed to Liverpoolfc.com during a brief chat ahead of training that Xherdan Shaqiri could be involved in the matchday squad for the Reds' clash with Manchester United.

The boss said: “We will see. He has had four days of training and will probably be involved in the squad, so maybe he can play a few minutes."

Klopp: “With my club it’s quite impressive - wherever we go our supporters are already there, that’s really nice. This club is so big we could go anywhere in the world and find Liverpool supporters.”

The boss confirms that Nathaniel Clyne returned home on Thursday to be with his partner, who has since given birth to a baby boy.

Congratulations, Nathaniel!

Klopp on whether Keita is out of Saturday's match...

“Probably. It’s really only a stiff neck [and] it’s getting better, absolutely. He won’t train today, we will see about tomorrow. It’s not serious - a stiff neck, we’ve all had one. Sometimes it’s gone overnight, sometimes not.”

Jürgen Klopp's press conference is under way…

“Usually we don’t have the opportunity to play in the second biggest stadium in the world. It’s pre-season, but it’s as well Liverpool against United,” says the boss.

“So it’s a big game, people in America were looking forward to it - well at least 100,000 are waiting for it! I’m really looking forward to it, it’s good.”

Loris Karius, Georginio Wijnaldum and Naby Keita are set to sit out Liverpool’s training session in Ann Arbor on Friday due to minor injuries.
