LFC FoundationRed Neighbours making a difference to people who live in and around our Anfield, Kirkby & Melwood homes
LFC Foundation's Red Neighbours programme continues to make a positive difference and engage our communities by providing opportunities for local people to stay active, improve their wellbeing and build meaningful social connections.
Throughout the summer, hundreds of participants have benefited from a wide range of Red Neighbours & Community Engagement programmes.
One of the highlights of the past fortnight was the Red Neighbours end of summer Social, which welcomed 280 participants, local residents and guests from the LFC Foundation’s hubs which are funded by the Premier League PLPFA.
Community Hubs play an important role in providing a space to bring people together and keep our communities healthy and active. We recently hosted another successful community social at The Brunswick Youth and Community Centre. Guests enjoyed afternoon tea provided by Homebaked before dancing the afternoon away to live music from singer Alex Devine.
Summer 2026 was the hottest on record, but despite the heat we have seen a consistent turn out for our weekly Tai Chi sessions which proves just how important it is.
One participant said: "I wouldn't miss it for the world, even in the heat. It's the highlight of our week!"
Elsewhere, the Red Neighbours Walking Netball group continues to thrive, bringing energy and positivity to every session. The ladies are benefiting from the sessions by staying health and building friendships that are maintained on and off the court.
Members of the Foundation's Man 2 Man group recently enjoyed a special social event at Sean's Place. Attendees were treated to copies of LFC Foundation’s Community Ambassador, Chris Kirkland’s book ‘Keeping It Quiet’ where Chris also surprised everyone with an appearance.
The afternoon also included an LFC-themed quiz and Homebaked pies, giving everyone plenty to talk about!
Our Red Neighbours team are passionate about promoting physical health, mental wellbeing, tackling social isolation and food poverty, and providing memorable experience for young people.
The small, but dedicated team undertook extensive consultation within the local community, speaking with over sixty community leaders, councillors, headteachers, community councils, churches and local residents to really understand what the issues are on our doorstep.
