Held at Socceroof Brooklyn in Sunset Park, the event was delivered with local charity We Can Kick It, which is supported by the British Consulate General New York and uses passion for soccer to inspire and empower children and families affected by cancer across the region.

Children and young people aged 6 to 18 took part in coaching sessions led by LFC Foundation coaches, for an afternoon of football, games and activities.

LFC Foundation chief executive officer Matt Parish attended the event, spending time with the children and their families, learning more about the work of We Can Kick It and joining in with the coaching sessions on the pitch.

Speaking after the event, he said: “Creating opportunities through football is what we do every single day at LFC Foundation, whether that’s in Liverpool or through the work we’re fortunate to deliver with communities around the world.

“It was a real privilege to spend time with the children, young people and families from We Can Kick It. Seeing everyone enjoying themselves, building confidence and simply having fun together is exactly what sessions like this are all about, and we’d like to thank We Can Kick It and the British Consulate General New York for helping to make this afternoon possible.”

The football clinic is one of a number of community events being delivered by LFC Foundation during Liverpool FC’s time in the USA, including hospital visits, soccer clinics and meet & greets with current and former players.

Beyond pre-season tour, LFC Foundation continues to deliver employability programmes for young people across all five boroughs of New York City and Northern New Jersey. Through initiatives including Creative Works, Soccer Works and mentoring, the Foundation helps young people to gain the confidence, skills and experiences needed to prepare for education and employment. Since launching its New York programmes, the Foundation has supported hundreds of young people across the city.

The Reds face Wrexham in New York's Yankee Stadium July 29, before rounding off the USA leg of their pre-season tour against Leeds United in Chicago’s Soldier Field on August 2. The club will then return to Anfield for fixtures against AS Monaco on August 9 and Como 1907 on August 16 ahead of the start of the 2026-27 season.
