Preston defender emerges as surprise target for Liverpool
Ben Davies has emerged as a shock potential solution to Liverpool's defensive crisis as the Premier League champions attempt to make a pre-deadline transfer swoop.
Liverpool have made enquiries over a number of players after Joel Matip joined Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez on the injury list, with Preston North End defender Davies among them.
Celtic have been chasing a deal for Davies and had hoped to conclude a deal before the transfer window shuts on Monday night for him to either join immediately or at the end of the season.
