Jurgen Klopp is already prepared to pursuit new targets in January after Liverpool pulled out the race for Paris Saint-Germain ace Adrien Rabiot.

Midfield star Rabiot is out of contract at the Ligue 1 champions this summer and has so far refused to sign a new deal - which would make him a free agent on July 1.

Liverpool had been winning the battle to lure the World Cup winner to Anfield, with the club reportedly making contact with both Rabiot's agent and his mother.

Those reports were declared wide of the mark by the Liverpool Echo, although further rumours suggested the Reds could attempt to complete a 'Naby Keita-type deal' - which would see him sign for a fee in January to safe guard against other clubs entering negotiations and join the side next summer.

But that has been ruled out by Football Italia, who have revealed that the Reds are content with their midfield options already.

Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan are still in the hunt for Rabiot, with Barcelona still searching for an Andres Iniesta replacement, with Paulingho also departing this summer.

Rabiot, 23, has played over 200 times for PSG, including five appearances this season, having joined the club as a youngster.
