Liverpool are interested in signing Porto defender Alex Telles, according to Portuguese media outlet A Bola.

Telles, who reportedly has a release clause of £35 million, has been a Porto player since his switch from Galatasary in 2016 for £5.7 million and has gone on to make 62 appearances for the club.

Despite a decent stint for the Portuguese team, the 25-year-old had a far less successful time for Galatasary who loaned him out to Inter Milan.

Inter Milan were equally unimpressed with Telles and decided against making his transfer permanent.

However, Telles seems to be much improved in Portugal and has reportedly caught the eye of Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool who are keen to strengthen in the full-back areas.

The Brazilian bagged three goals and 13 assists for Porto during their most recent league campaign, and played 42 times in all competitions including seven times in the Champions League.

Spurs, Chelsea and Juventus are also said to be monitoring his services after a successful 12 months, but Liverpool has emerged as the likliest destination of all the clubs at the moment.

If Telles does land at Anfield, he’s likely to battle it out with Andy Robertson for a starting spot.
